Don’t be party to govt’s pretentious fight against vigilantism – Mahama cautions Peace Council

Former President of Ghana, John Dramni Mahama has told the National Peace Council not to allow themselves to be railroaded into serving as a cosmetic veneer to make the government look as though it is tackling vigilantism when it is not.

He made this remark in a post on his Facebook page after the commemoration of one year after the Ayawaso West Wuogun Constituency brutalities.

He noted that although it has been a year after the violent election, it appears the National Peace Council has been unsuccessful at handling the post-Ayawaso West Wuogon bye-election engagements because very little progress has been made.

He mentioned that there are still many questions that remain unanswered. And there are many people who President Akufo-Addo is shielding from consequential punishment.

The National Democratic Congress at a ceremony well attended by its members commemorated one year anniversary of the violent by-elections in Ayawaso West Wagon which led to the election of Lydia Seyram as its Member of Parliament.
