Pass more laws to help women and girls-SDA women tell government
Women of the Seventh Day Adventist Church are pushing for more legislation to shield women and girls in Ghana from abuse, MyNewsGh.com reports.

According to the church, “we must do all we can to stop abuse in our families, our communities where women are raped and beaten, our work places where women are treated less and paid less than men, women in prison who are abused, abuse of the elderly and so many problems of abuse”.
Speaking at the 3rd Women’s Ministry Congress of the West Central Africa Division of the Seventh Day Adventist, the Director for Women’s Ministries at the General Conference of SDA, Heather-Dawn Small revealed that, “right now in Ghana, we are collecting signatures to give to the government to ask for more laws to help women and girls” through a campaign dubbed ‘End It Now’.
The four-day congress under the theme, “Saved to serve”, has drawn members of the women’s ministry of the SDA from 22 countries in West and Central Africa to Kumasi.
On her part, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Elizabeth Agyemang who represented the First Lady, Rebecca Akufo Addo challenged the women, to with “one voice, speak to deter perpetrators of abuse and violence against women”.

“The Government of Ghana, through DOVVSU, has helped to deal with people who abuse girls and women through the legal process”, she noted.
