Parliament to summon Transport Minister over appointment at Keta Port
The Parliamentary Committee on Transport is expected to invite the Minister of Transport Kwaku Ofori Asiamah and officials of the Ghana Ports and Harbors Authority to explain why a director has been appointed for the yet to be constructed Keta Port.
A letter dated March 11, 2019, and signed by the Transport Minister congratulated one Alexander Y. Adusei Jr for being employed as Head of the Port.
But the Ranking Member of the Parliamentary Committee on Transport, Governs Kwame Agbodza in an interview said the appointment is unnecessary hence answers must be sought.
“The issues are becoming a lot these days I’ve had off the record conversations with individuals and I feel this is not something we should tolerate. Unfortunately as a committee we are not consulted on things like this, these are management issues but I’m sure that we are going to look at the possibility of inviting GPHA and the Minister of Transport to tell us the rationale behind this needless appointment which is just going to consume further government’s resources at the expense of putting the resources into things that will develop the port itself.”
