NPP’s ‘Invincible Forces’ Attack NDC Polling Agents, Leading to NDC Pulling Out of Ayawaso West Wuogon By-election
The opposition National Democratic Congress has decided to pull out of the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election following violent attacks on its polling agents.
According to the party, members of the NPP’s Invincible Forces dressed up as members of National Security and attacked the NDC’s polling agents as voting went underway in the election.
The assailants stormed the La Bawalashie Presby polling station earlier today and fired shots and attacked some agents. The attack reportedly lasted 20 minutes and police had to intervene.
The NDC also allege the NPP vigilantes stormed the home of the party’s candidate in the elections, Delali Kwesi Brempong.

In response to the attacks, NDC Chairman Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has announced that the party is pulling out of the by-election due to security reasons.
Speaking on the Super Morning Show, Ampofo said: “Armed security men besieged our candidate ’s home and we can no longer guarantee the security of our people and our polling agents,”
“We have conferred with our candidate, Delali Kwesi Brempong and he is traumatized by the incident. We also do not believe a single life should be lost in this by-election so we have withdrawn from the process,“ he added.
The Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election was necessitated by the death of the NPP MP Emmanuel Kyeremanten Agyarko. It’s unclear what would happen now that the NDC say they are out of the elections.
