Linking Ahmed’s death to his Journalism profession unfortunate – Speaker
The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye has described as unfortunate claims linking the killing of undercover investigator Ahmed Hussein Suale’s death to his profession as a Journalist.
The speaker commented on the matter during Wednesday’s sitting in Parliament.
“The fact that a lawyer has been killed doesn’t mean that the killing has to do with his legal profession, the fact that a doctor has been killed doesn’t mean he’s been killed because he’s a doctor so please wait. The mere fact that a journalist has been killed doesn’t mean the motivating factor is journalism, what are you talking about? If somebody is having a problem over a woman and he happens to be a journalist, and that’s why I say you must wait for the police to investigate before you come to such unfortunate conclusions.”
Hussein-Suale who’s an associate of renonwned investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas was killed on Wednesday, January 16, by some unknown assailants on his way home.
He was shot three times, twice in the chest and another in the neck, dying instantly, according to the police.
Ahmed Hussein Suale was instrumental in the Number 12 documentary which uncovered huge corruption in Ghana football which subsequently led to FIFA placing a life ban on then President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwasi Nyantakyi and over hundred football officials.
Many believe Ahmed’s death could be linked to the role he played in the investigations.
