Ga Traditional Council gets first 'development queen mother'

Madam Elizabeth Naa Ahemaa Nunoo, a businesswoman, was Monday installed the first development queen mother for the Ga Traditional Council (GTC).

The queen mother who goes by the stool name Norya Manye Naa Ahemaa Ablade Okropong I was formally introduced and accepted into the Council amidst firing of musketry and other traditional rites.

Naa Okropong I will be expected to promote developmental projects in all communities within and under the GTC.

In an address on behalf of the Council, Klan Wulomo, Numo Nikoi Amasah II said the enstoolment of the Norya Manye would help unite people within the Ga traditional area and bring about progress.

He pledged the support of all Chiefs and Queen mothers in the Council to the newly installed queen mother to bring about the needed change and restore the Ga State to its former glory.

Numo Amasah said efforts were underway to bring all feuding factions within the Ga State together to advance peace and the coming on board of the development queen would help in that direction.

On her part, Naa Okropong I promised to do all within her powers to make the traditional area a force to reckon with.

She called for unity among locals adding that “it is in unity that we can have development.”

Naa Okropong I further asked Ga’s eschew all forms of negative behaviours that undermined development, promising to work hand in hand with “all persons” to push the right agenda for the area.
