Four bodies recovered from Kumasi floods

MyNewsGh.com has confirmed from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) that four bodies have been recovered from flooding waters following Thursday’s flood disaster in Kumasi.

Ashanti regional Coordinator for NADMO, Kwabena Nsenkyire who confirmed this to MyNewsGh.com revealed that bodies of the deceased persons have been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue.

According to him, NADMO officials are still on the ground in an attempt to recover more bodies from various suburbs.

The rainfall which last hours resulted in flooding in areas including Anloga, Sawaba, Alabar, Aboabo, Kwadaso, Tafo, Sepe Boukrom and other areas within the Kumasi metropolis.

 Scores have been displaced with a number of houses submerged following the heavy downpour.

City authorities are blaming the situation on the failure of developers to adhere to building regulations but residents say their failure over the years demolish structures on waterways and also desilt choked drains in the metropolis that can ease the flow of running water is to blame.
