APlus given 7 days to retract, publicly apologize to Asenso Boakye- lawyers write him
Less than 24 hours after lawyers for Minister of Communication Mrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful wrote to Kwame APlus giving the musician prior notice of a suit of defamation against him contingent on his public apology, MyNewsGh.com can report that lawyers for Deputy Chief of Staff at the Office of the President, Francis Asenso Boakye have also written to embattled Kwame APlus advising him to unreservedly retract and apologize to their client or face them in court.
The content of the letter which MyNewsGh.com has intercepted said APlus has consistently embarked on a campaign of calumny against their client (Asenso Boakye) for whom, they say, there exists a ‘clean bill of health’ on corruption.
“Our client takes a serious view of said statements including one dated 23rd May 2018 same being completely false”. A-Partners@Law lawyers wrote.
They said APlus has “with malice aforethought waged a sustained crusade with intent to damage and falsely damaging our client’s reputation using social media..”
They aver that since the issue of the Ghana Football Association President came up, Aplus has used that matter too, as an opportunity to do more damage to the reputation of their client in addition to what damage he has inflicted in the past.
In their words, APlus has “recently resumed the complained conduct after Police commenced investigations into alleged criminal conduct against President of the Ghana Football Association”, pointing out to him specifics; “you have since authored and circulated a series of statements and referred to our client as being “corrupt” among other defamatory claims directly and by innuendo obvious to your audience”.
The lawyers said they remain very convinced that “the said falsehood maliciously publicized attracted and continue to attract similar damaging comments” from APlus’ social media followers “and as far as those defamatory statements have been circulated and republished”.
Cleared of corruption allegation
Lawyers of Mr Asenso Boakye said they- and APlus, they hoped- were not oblivious of the outcome of a thorough investigation into previous allegations of corruption he levelled against their esteemed client.
The verdict, they said, returned their client clean, for which reason they wondered why APlus has “with impunity disregarded outcomes of lawful, constitutional official and quasi judicial processes that discredited your allegations and gave our client a clean bill of health in respect of same through due process”.
Any idiot can go to court
Kwame APlus only yesterday had replied Ursula Owusu-Ekuful that ‘any idiot can go to court’ in response to a letter written to him on an almost similar subject matter.
APlus called on Obinim’s Angels ‘Nimokafui’ and his heavenly siblings to strike him dead if he opens his mouth to apologize to Ursula Owusu-Ekuful.
In the light of the above, APlus has been given 7 days by Asenso Boakye’s lawyers to apologize.
“Your written retraction and apology, which must be delivered within 7 days from the date first above, must be given the same publicity and prominence as the defamatory claims and must be unequivocal, unconditional and subject to the prior approval of our client and his Solicitors.” The lawyers said.
As Ursula’s lawyers ended their letter, so did Asenso’s: “Be advised accordingly.”
