Minority cooperated well in parliament in 2017 despite walkouts-Osei Owusu

Despite a number walkouts staged by the minority National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Parliament, they  cooperated well in the business activities of the House, First Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joseph Osei Owusu has revealed.

According to him, there were some walkouts by NDC Members of Parliament (MPs) to register their displeasure over  certain government policies and programmes but it did not affect the work of the Parliament so much.

“I will not say they did not cooperate. Both the Majority and Minority members of the House all cooperated”, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) lawmaker for Bekwai Constituency in the Ashanti Region spoke on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM.

According to him, Parliament this year has marked a history under Forth Republican Constitution by enacting more bills and laws than the previous ones.

“According to my information, this Parliament has done well ever in the history of this country by enacting more laws ever in the country’s history”, the Second First Deputy Speaker disclosed.

He therefore commended both members of the house for their successful contribution to the country’s development urging other state institutions to follow suit to bring productivity.
