Dancehall artiste, Samini born Emmanuel Andrews Sammini has hailed the government’s handling of COVID-19. According to him, in Africa, if Ghana is not the best at handling the deadly disease, it is one the best when it comes to managing COVID-19. Samini who is currently stuck in Canada with his family noted that it is evident from the lower numbers that government was up to speed on issues with regards to the deadly disease. Samini who was speaking to Andy Dosty in an interview on Accra-based Hitz FM said “I think, so far, across Africa, we are doing, if not the best, we are one of the best in managing COVID-19 pandemic”. Founding President of policy think tank IMANI Franklin Cudjoe has justified his shift of opinion on why he strongly supported calls for a new register in 2015 but is now opposing it in 2020. The IMANI boss was forced to explain himself after ruling trolls attacked him for “hypocrisy”. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is expected to address the country today May 31, 2020, on new measures rolled out to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus. Ghanaians are anxious to see if the President will lift the ban on public gatherings after it was extended by some two weeks during the last address but expires tonight.
