Ofori-Atta presents mid-year budget review today

The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta will today, Monday, 29 July 2019 present the mid-year budget review and supplementary estimates in Parliament. This is in accordance with Section (28) of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921). The Mid-year budget review is expected to touch on the the review of the Luxury Vehicle Tax, the economic outlook, Ghana’s debt situation, and domestic revenue mobilisation among others. Ahead of the presentation today, some stakeholders in the Ghanaian economy have tabled their concerns including the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC) and the Minority. A former deputy Minister of Power,  John  Abdulai Jinapor has said the opposition will resist any attempt to further burden Ghanaians with any Tax increment. “The quagmire we find ourselves in as a nation presently is self inflicted and responsibility should not be shoved off to the already burdened citizens,” he said in a statement on Friday.
