Chieftains of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), on Monday night, passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of the party. Gov. Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara made this known at the end of a caucus of the party which was presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari. The embattled ex-Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina is currently evading arrest because people are shielding him, the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, has said. The anti-Corruption Czar said this during an Interview with Channels TV. Magu, however failed to mention those protecting Maina but maintained that operatives of the commission were not among those shielding him from arrest. Youths at the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday staged a peaceful protest demanding removal of the party’s chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun. The demonstration comes barely 24 hours to the national executive committee meeting of the party. The youths, under the aegis of Save APC and Democracy Youth Vanguard, carried placards with the inscriptions: ‘Audit APC Account Now’, No To Non-elective Convention’ and ‘APC Must Support Anti-corruption’.
